LogGPS is a specialized utility designed for the precise recording of GPS data, capturing comprehensive information such as notes, date and time, longitude, latitude, altitude, horizontal and vertical accuracy, speed, course, heading, and heading accuracy upon manual activation via the 'Save' button. Notably, notes are persistent across saves, allowing for accumulation or editing of contextual information between data points.

This application is well-suited for remote GPS data collection intended for subsequent integration into other software systems. Its operation does not depend on map rendering or network connectivity, contributing to a lightweight footprint and minimized power consumption. Currently, it lacks background recording capabilities but offers rapid data entry without significant battery drain.

One notable feature is the 'Big Button' mode, which transforms the entire display into a large 'Save' interface ideal for quick location stamping in environments such as city inspections. Activation of this mode enables users to save their current GPS location with a single touch anywhere on the screen.

For visualization purposes, saved locations can be displayed through external mapping applications—contingent upon network access—within supported services like Apple Maps or Google Maps.

The application also includes a 'Return To' function. By selecting a saved point and activating this feature, users are presented with navigational data—course, bearing, distance, and estimated time—to facilitate returning to that specific location.

Users can review all recorded GPS points in the onboard list view, which permits individual deletions and editing of associated notes for accuracy or clarification.

Data exports are straightforward using the 'Export' option, enabling sharing in formats such as CSV (comma-separated values), GPX route, or GPX waypoint files. Exported data remains unaltered (using metric units and UTC time), regardless of display preferences. After export, files can be shared via email, transferred to other applications, or stored locally through the integrated 'Share' functionality.

Configurable settings accessible through the Apple Settings app include units of measurement (metric or US customary), time zone (local or UTC), coordinate formatting (DMS or fractional degrees), sorting order (newest first or last), preferred mapping applications (Apple Maps, Google Maps), and GPS update parameters balancing accuracy against battery life. Additional options involve adjusting CSV export parameters and customizing user feedback during saves.
